Greetings sweet community

I find myself still abroad, learning and growing in ways I never
thought. Missing my family in the States but looking forward to the
time we can sit together again.

Reading these posts lately on the lists is a sweet bitter experience
for me. I consider myself a core member of this community but no
more then each one of you …

This community

That is so sweet to say.

Disagreements and upheavals are normal. This is bound to happen when
you have multiple individuals coming together and working towards a
common goal. Even as it may be unpleasant this helps us clearly
define and redefine what it is we are working on and were we are
sailing to.

The Dark Skies Event is more then an Event, it is a vision.

A vision of self-expression. It is the hope people can gather to
express their heart, no matter how radical the concept may be. It is
the hope people can witness each other without tainted glasses. This
vision offers to do this by building acceptance through ART and
COMMUNITY. Here is where the visions of Burning Man play a part.
This is what we have always wanted, to be a regional event, and we
should continue to work hard as one.

To help ensure this vision can grow and maintain, there has to be a
business counterpart. Someone(s) has to pull the permit(s), deal
with the legal issue(s), structure the event, and deal with all the
financial aspects and the multiple mundane issues of pulling off a
legal and safe event. Unfortunately it also means someone(S) has to
wear the hat of being the "bad guy" and make decision for the
events' sake. The decisions may not always be the right ones but
please know they are made with the hopes of bettering the event not
hindering it.

When business and vision meet there is bound to be conflict. It is
my hope these conflicts do not interfere with the opportunity we
have all been working towards.

It is wonderful to see how well the fundraiser did! WOW

I look forward to the time I can bask in your beauty once again my
friends. Until then I keep you in my heart!

Much Love
Cindy

Great post Cindy, it was getting kind of nasty.....People who arent directly involved with making events like this happen dont know how much bull S**t there is to deal with. Thanks for putting things into perspective.

Like I said before. Singularity was my first Vegas event and I had a great time. I think Cameron and the rest did a great job and it was top notch.

I am not really sure what all the Drama was about, but I will not let it sour my experience and I will continue to tell everyone I meet about what a great time it was and how well put together it was.

    Keep on keeping on people!

" This vision offers to do this by building acceptance through ART and
    COMMUNITY. "

    Hi Cindy!

    Glad to 'see' you again!

I have to disagree with this statement you've made. How is it 'acceptance', when just because someone doesn't LIKE you, you are banned from the event? And that's all it really boils down to.

Gordy and I have done nothing but support this "community". To be used solely for what we can provide, and then to be disgarded is disgusting.

The reaction from some people on the LV & DS yahoo groups (of which we are banned) to people asking questions is totally uncalled for. How "Burning Man" is it to tell people if they don't live in Las Vegas to 'go away'? How "Burning Man" is it to tell people that "they just don't get it", "what gifts do you give out", :what give you the right to question us". "go find another regional event"???

The Las Vegas Region has spoken: If you don't do what WE (whoever that is) say, you're not welcome. You are not allowed to question anything WE do.

    Some "community"!
