When?

I really want to get the event onto my calendar before other stuff overwhelms my schedule.

Any news?

Well, I bought my tickets to Joshua Tree Music Fest already... So don't schedule Dark Skies that weekend.

That was exactly what I was thinking. I still have not pulled the trigger on the JTree Music fest yet for fear of having a scheduling conflict. I think I'll just take my chances as you did.

The Dark Skies Arts Festival (2009 theme: The Space Pirates!) is a four day-three night camping trip featuring art, performance, fire and music and you! All of this is presented on multiple venues around the event site called Mojave Drums, a private artists retreat near Meadview, Arizona, about two hours from Las Vegas. For 2009 Dark Skies will be held on April 23-26 with all participants off the site by sundown on Sunday April 26. Dark Skies is the southern Nevada regional Burning Man event and all of Burning Man’s ’10 Principals’ apply including leave no trace, no vending, and radical self reliance. There are no services provided other than pottys. Everything you bring to Mojave Drums you will take home with you.

Though Dark Skies is an all ages event we require children under 18 to be with parents, kids under 5 are free, and there will be no under age drinking. We are adults who self regulate and we expect you to act accordingly. We have been producing Dark Skies events since 2005, this will be our 7th event and our second event on this wonderful site. Dark Skies is a volunteer and community based event, we cannot do this without YOU.

For 2009 we are capping attendance at 250 people. Please visit our website
