Hi all, we're driving up from Los Angeles, and would like to fill up with water right before we haul out to the playa, and avoid driving 30+ gallons of water the whole way. Are there any water-fillup businesses near by?

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Tue, May 1, 2007 - 3:45 AMWhat do you mean a water fill up? I live in Las Vegas and will gladly look for what you need, if you can tell me what it is. Sorry, I'm still new to this all.

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Tue, May 1, 2007 - 2:38 PMThere's three casinos and a huge gas station just a couple of miles from the event. Though I don't know if there are any spigots to be had, there are certainly a lot of opportunities to secure water (check in to a casino, buy at chevron, etc).

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Tue, May 1, 2007 - 7:34 PMThe best place is an RV park... is there one close to the hotels you mentioned??
They may charge you to dump but they'll let you fill your water tanks.
We're coming from SD so we're looking too...
Thank you -

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 10:47 AMI thouht roach lake was on the SD side of LV? So don't actually have to go into vegas to get there?
I might be coming and was planning on (since I have a car) getting bottled water (1-2 gallons) at a store on the way. What is the last town that would have good sized grocery store on the way there from SD?
Hi ya CT HUGS! -

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 10:53 AMPrimm is about 5 miles inside the Nevada border on the 15. Roach lake is a couple of miles from Primm. Unfortunately, there isn't a "town" of primm, only 3 casinos and a big ole gas station. The gas station has a large and well-stocked mini mart that you can get water, munchies, smokes etc. But I don't know about RV fill-up. That seems to be the other place, probably attached to one of the casinos.

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 11:07 PMHey Celestia,
For you, the best town for pricing would probably be Barstow. But, if you wanna try to meet in Primm, I can bring some water for you...lol

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Thu, May 3, 2007 - 12:20 AMHey Celestia!
You can stock up on water @ the gas station just south of Buffalo Bills (don't ask me to remember the name - it's 12:15 in the morning & I don't do that well with names anyway). They're used to the off-roaders who use both our site and a couple of other sites in the area, so they usually have a lot of the food/water stuff, albeit a bit more costly.
If you need it, let me know off list & I can add a few extra gallons to one of the zillion trips I'll be making between Vegas & the site.

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Wed, May 2, 2007 - 7:19 PMThe RV park in Primm has been closed down. The next nearest spot is the Oasis RV Park.
2711 W. Windmill Lane
Las Vegas, NV 89123
It's north of the site by about 20 minutes, but not quite in Las Vegas proper. I send everyone up there to dump and refill as the Circus Circus is really a pain to get to. -

Wed, May 2, 2007 - 11:05 PMCool, thanks. I just joined the tribe, am not going to the event this season, but wanted to help as much as I can. I live in Las Vegas and these are good things for me to know!

Re: Water fill-up on the way in?
Tue, May 8, 2007 - 9:59 PMThanks all for the input! I know that Pimm is just a gas station/casino exit, is why I asked.
I guess I'll haul water up from LA -- there's no real point for us to drive all over Barstow looking for a water store, it won't save us anything.
(To Burning Man, we do haul empty and fill up in Reno, where there's lots of well-known burner-friendly water stores.)
